"Neckline Basket", 2004
pistachio nut shells, silver & coated copper knotless netting, beads, forged aluminum, stainless steel mesh
19" x 18" x 12"

My interests lie in the relationship between the mundane and the extraordinary. It is about the basic, yet phenomenal dialogue between technique and materials.

By obsessing over mundane objects like pistachio nut shells or steel washers, dedicating an unbelievable amount of time to each and every one, I am able to transform them from something ordinary into something extraordinary. The materials take on a new life. The viewer discovers their true nature only after close observation of the basket, making the finished pieces both elegant and curious.
